To all the People who want to Travel, but Didn’t.

So a girl has been inboxing us for the last three four days, asking about one of the January end trips. I could sense she was nervous about it, as it was her first solo trip, and she kept asking questions, counter questions and more. It is but natural for a lot of people, especially those stepping out for their first group trip with strangers.

While talking today, she blurted out, “I want to come so much. But I am scared too. Just want to escape from everything going on at home. Haven’t told my family yet about the trip, and I just want to be sure about everything.”

I read the message and smiled. I have read so many messages like these in the last few years. On Christmas, a girl came with us on our Rajasthan trip. She was just 22-23 years old. On the first day she told us, how she also had a lot of apprehensions because it was the first time she was travelling so far from her home (she is from a nice little town near Corbett). She had told her parents she was going with friends. All through the trip, I saw her smiling, laughing, making new friends. When the trip ended, she was in tears cos she didnt want to leave. Four days back, she booked our Dharamshala trip too, and is trekking to Triund today with Sakshi as we speak. From being apprehensive about travelling alone, to booking two trips within one month and making forty new friends, how the world changes

There are so many people worried about coming on a trip. Many of them come, and then they get hooked on and keep coming back. I wonder, how many don’t take that leap of faith. How many just keep reading the stories, seeing the pictures, imagine themselves in the beautiful places, and yet stay at home.

I stepped out for the first time solo in 2013, not knowing if I would have fun. I fell in love so much with travelling that I never went back to the corporate, and a year later decided to make more people travel like me, and started this brand.

The biggest example of this is that all the people who work with me now, came the same way. Solo, on a trip with me. Some left everything to work with me, cos we all love and trust each other that much.

To all those who would like to travel, to escape for a few days, to all those who want to laugh a little more, become children once again, I would ask you to take a leap of faith, give yourself a chance to explore and discover the world and yourself a little more, and travel! Even if not with us, with someone, or yourself. Don’t expect to have an amazing or life changing time, just go out wanting to experience life a little more. And if you come with us, well dunno about life changing, but we will definitely make you laugh and smile a little more.

All the love in the world to you. Cap’n Nero

Neeraj Narayanan, a.k.a Captain Nero, is the founder of OHOT. In the summer of 2013, he quit his corporate job and went backpacking around the world. In a year full of (mis)adventures, he ended up being chased by a bear in a Croatian forest, being held at gunpoint by a mafia gang lord in Turkey, running with the bulls in Spain, and dancing in the clubs of Spain and Italy. A year later, he started leading group trips for people.
