Did you know the region boasts one of the world’s longest combined coastlines due to the nation’s 7000 tropical islands? Ah, I know this makes it quite hard to decide which places to visit when you are in the country. So, let us take you through some of the most beautiful picturesque location in Philippines that would definitely make your heart swoon.
I’d like to start with my personal favourite place in the country – the Chocolate Hills. Tadaaa!
The Chocolate Hills of Bohol are one of the most iconic natural phenomenon’s in the Philippines. This UNESCO-protected site is a collection of 1,200 geological formations that turn brown in the dry season, resembling a landscape of chocolate candy kisses.
If you ever happen to be in Palawan, make sure to wander around El Nido town and hire your own boat to visit the stunning Bacuit archipelago.
You can also pop over to the Palawanese island of Coron which is just 60-80km from El Nido. Coron is popular for pristine lagoons and white-sand beaches. The views underwater are beautiful too! Go here for shipwreck diving, sprawling coral gardens, and snorkelling.
Just a short plane ride from Manila, Boracay is exactly what you’d imagine in a Filipino island: powdery white sand, turquoise blue water, spectacular sunsets, and vibrant night life. Did you know it was voted as the best island in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine. What more could you ask for?!
If you are an underwater enthusiast, Cebu is one of your best options for excursions that get you up-close to whale sharks, coral reefs, and sea turtles. Cebu is also home to the stunning Kawasan Falls, which is honestly one of the most beautiful places you’ll visit here.
Banaue is the gateway to the Ifugao Rice Terraces, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site is considered by many Filipinos as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Known as “the land of the dream weavers” by the locals, South Cotabato is a hidden gem in the Philippines.This peaceful town in in Mindanao offers a cool mountain climate, beautiful waterfalls and scenic lake views.
If you are a lover of old cities, Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-visit. It’s a city that’s filled with cobbled streets, Spanish and Filipino architecture and Plaza Burgos which has the best street food.
If you are an offbeat traveller, Surigao del Sur province has many extraordinary sights. See the majestic Tinuy-an Falls and bizarre Hinatuan Enchanted River, a magically clear, deep blue river that seems to spring from nowhere.
Unleash your adventurous side in Sagada! Go hiking, trekking, visit bat caves, and explore hot springs. You can find this small town tucked away in the mist-covered Cordillera Mountain range of Northern Luzon.
